Check my DIY Pedestal Vase post to see how I made the vases. In this diy I show how I spray painted them. I bought Design Master Brilliant Gold, Montana Gold and Krylon Looking Glass, I ended up liking Design Master in Brilliant Gold.
So I sprayed the vases 3 different ways. For the first one I sprayed a bottle of vinegar(undiluted) all over the vase and then sprayed a thin layer of the of the Design Master's gold spray paint. Then I quickly dabbed the paint with some paper towel. The result is shown below. The look is more sheer and iridescent. I really liked this look
The second technique just has you repeating the step above a second time. I found the more coats I did the duller and metallic the paint looked.
The third type is an opaque layer of paint. I sprayed 2 coats of the Montana Gold over the vase. Then I added a thin layer of Design Masters Brilliant Gold to brighten the color. I found Montana's gold to look more natural and shiny but I liked the bright gold of Design Master.
*I didn't end up using krylon's looking glass because it was too silver for the look I wanted.
